POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: nConnect NW Program Coordinator
SUMMARY:
nConnect NW’s Program Coordinator’s principal responsibility will be the operations of nConnect NW’s small group mentoring program. They will focus on all aspects of the program including the training and support of nConnect NW mentors and volunteers and reports to the Program Director. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating mentoring and volunteering activities including orientation, training, background checks, check-in meetings, closure activities, and data collection under the direction of the Program Director. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for scheduling and implementing AP support activities, support of other nConnect NW programs, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Mentor and teacher orientation and training: Scheduling, developing materials, and performing orientations and trainings for nConnect NW mentors and teachers participating in the small group mentoring program, and the STEM Link mentoring program as needed.
2. Mentor and other volunteer background checks: Running background checks directly through the state systems, or through the school district. Documenting that background checks were performed and passed.
3. Mentor, teacher, and volunteer support: Performing at least one site visit per mentoring group each year, developing and maintaining online support tools, such as mentoring handbooks, activity guides, and online discussion forums, trouble-shooting when challenges arise, devising ways to demonstrate appreciation of program participants, etc. Developing, promoting, and implementing activities for mentors, students, teachers and mentoring groups and needed.
4. Close of service activity: Developing and implementing an activity to signify the end of the school/program year, and to thank participants.
5. AP program support: Scheduling, finding facilitators, promoting, and performing AP study sessions and practice exams.
6. Record keeping: Maintaining records of all participating mentors, volunteers, teachers and students.
7. Program data collection: Collecting and analyzing data including AP scores, program participants, and pre- and post-program surveys. Writing reports for various audiences.
8. Travel to schools and businesses to meet directly with mentoring groups, travel to meetings as needed.

ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED:
1. Attends meetings, workshops, seminars; keeps current with trends and practices relative to the mission and goals of the organization.
2. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs wide variety of duties necessary to the efficient management of the organization and its programs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an office setting; however, external contacts necessitate some travel mostly in southwest Washington and the Portland metro region.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have:
- Baccalaureate degree from a credited institution
- Minimum of two years experience in related field
- Excellent computer skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Demonstrated relationship building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Current driver’s license
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience managing volunteers and mentor
- Background and/or knowledge of in science, technology, engineering and math
- Knowledge of AP programs
- Experience with related programs
- Familiarity with and/or residence in Southwest Washington
- Experience in website maintenance
